Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the rest of the season, including the playoffs, coach Bruce Arian said on Monday.

Godwin suffered the injury during the Buccaneers’ 9-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night. He was hit low on a catch in the middle by Saints defensive back PJ Williams and was ruled out for the remainder of the competition.

“You feel bad for him because he was having such a great year, and it was kind of a hit — totally legit, but I think it’s one of those things,” Ariane said in a news conference. We have to see in the off-season.” ,

“We’re very concerned about hitting people in the head and we’re getting a lot of knee injuries now because of that type of tackle. But it’s legal and wasn’t bad at all.”

Fellow top wide receiver Mike Evans also left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says Evans has a hamstring strain and has a chance to play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Wide receiver Antonio Brown is set to rejoin the team this week after he served a three-game suspension for being misled about his COVID-19 vaccination status.

“It’s in the best interest of our football team,” Arian said of the return of Brown and safety Mike Edwards. “Both of them have given their time and we will welcome them back.”

Arians mourned various injuries following the loss, which marked the first shutout defeat for Brady in 15 years.

It’s been 18 hours for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver room.

Chris Godwin and Mike Evans both left Sunday’s game against the Saints with leg injuries.

For Godwin, who ranks fifth among NFL receivers with 1,103 receiving yards in 14 games this season, the initial forecast was that he would miss the rest of the regular season with an MCL injury. On Monday, the news got even worse: He has a torn ACL and is also out for the post season.

The news for Evans is comparatively better. According to Adam Schefter, Evans has a hamstring strain and he could return soon in this Sunday’s game against the Panthers.

Antonio Brown, whose three-game suspension for using a fake COVID-19 vaccine card ended after a loss to the Saints, is eligible to return for Tampa Bay on Sunday. Despite coach Bruce Arians coming out on Brown’s future with the team, it seems that necessity forced the team’s hand.

News

Bad news came for Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin.

An MRI revealed that Godwin tore his ACL in Sunday’s second quarter loss to the New Orleans Saints and was done for the season.

“Chris has an ACL. And he’s done. He’ll be done for the season,” coach Bruce Arian said Monday via NFL Network’s Sarah Walsh.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that Godwin also tore his MCL on the play.

Early tests on the first day suggested that Godwin had suffered an MCL injury that could have allowed the star receiver to return for the playoffs. But further imaging delivered even worse news.

Godwin’s season ends with 98 catches for 1,103 yards and five TDs.
