Christopher Lee Bryant (born January 4, 1992), nicknamed “KB”,[1] is an American professional baseball third baseman and outfielder who is a free agent. Kris Bryant is one of the biggest names in the Major League Baseball free agency market, but it doesn’t look like he’s going to be signing a contract anytime soon.

According to MLB insider Robert Murray, Bryant — who was traded from Chicago to San Francisco by the deadline — isn’t planning on signing before work halts.

Major League Baseball’s work is likely to stop when the current collective bargaining agreement expires in December.

Kris Bryant will be wearing No. 17, the Cubs announced on Friday. MLB tweeted a photo of Bryant’s jersey on Friday morning.

Bryant, who makes his highly-anticipated major league debut today against James Shields and the Padres, receives the same number as first base coach Brandon Hyde.

Hyde will wear number 16.
