Injury Reserve Update
The New York Jets have struggled with more injuries this season than most teams, and they’ve lost one of their young bright spots for at least three weeks. On Saturday, the club officially placed wide receiver Elijah Moore on injured reserve with a quad injury.
Moore was listed as a suspect for the Jets’ Week 14 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, despite not practicing all week. Now he has to miss at least three weeks. According to Hughes, the Jets hope Moore will only miss three games, but it’s possible it could be longer.
Week 14
The NY Jets have reached the top of their Week 14 matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Three players have been ruled out, while six others, including wide receiver Elijah Moore, are listed as suspects.
The Jets released their final injury report on Friday and declared Trayvon Vesco (ankle), cornerback Michael Carter II (concussion), and Tevin Coleman (concussion) out for this week’s game. All three players did not practice all week, making it very unlikely that they would be suitable against the Saints.
He also named the likes of Moore (quad), Laurent DuVernay-Tardiff (ankle), Ryan Griffin (knee/ankle), CJ Mosley (back), Sheldon Rankins (knee), and John Franklin-Myers (hip) as suspects. listed.
Griffin, Mosley, Rankins, and Franklin-Myers were full participants in practice on Friday and are at no risk of missing this week’s game. However the same cannot be said for Moore and DuVernay-Tardiff.
News
One of the few bright spots for the New York Jets is being shelved.
Rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore was placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury, the team announced on Saturday. Moore will miss at least the next three games while on IR.
Moore was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game versus the Saints, but coach Robert Saleh expressed optimism that he would be available to play despite not having practiced all week.
Saturday’s development is disastrous for an already short-handed Jets offense. Earlier this week, the Jets lost the season to WR Corey Davis after undergoing core muscle surgery. Running back Tevin Coleman was announced for this week, knocking out the RB core without already rookie Michael Carter, who had been placed on the IR two weeks ago.
Moore leads the Jets in each receiving category with 43 receptions for 538 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games played this season. Without a second-round selection, the Jets would leave behind WR Keelan Cole, Jamison Crowder and Denzel Mims as the leading trio for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson for the foreseeable future.
