Michael Ray Gundy (born August 12, 1967) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at Oklahoma State University. Gundy played college football at Oklahoma State, where he played quarterback from 1986 to 1989. He became the coach of Oklahoma State on January 3, 2005. Gundy and the University of Utah’s Kyle Whittingham are currently the second longest-serving FBS coach with a school, trailing behind. Only Kirk Ferrantz. He is the longest-serving in the Big 12 conference.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy meets with the media after the Cowboys’ 37-33 win over Oklahoma in Bedlam Saturday evening.
With the win, the Cowboys went 11–1 on the season, 8–1 in Big 12 play and officially ended the season with a perfect record at home, setting a school record of seven wins in the process.
The win also marked the Cowboys’ fourth win over an AP ranked rival this season. With a win over OU, the Cowboys will face Baylor in the Big 12 title game next weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for December 4 at 11 a.m. and will air on ABC.
Coach of the year
The Big 12 Conference released its season awards Thursday, with the No. 5 Oklahoma State Cowboys taking home several honors.
The awards, including Coach of the Year, are voted on by the league’s 10 coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their players.
OSU head coach Mike Gundy won Coach of the Year for the second time in his 17-year tenure at OSU (2010).
The Cowboys of Gundy finished the regular season with an 11–1 record and would play for the Conference Championship on Saturday with a chance in the college football playoffs on the line.
Oklahoma State Senior Running Back Jaylen Warren won Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and Defensive Freshman and Collins Oliver won Defensive Freshman of the Year.
Six OSU players made up the All-Big 12 First Team, including junior quarterback Spencer Sanders. Four Cowboys made up the other team which included sophomore kick returner and former Bixby Spartan Brennan Presley.
The Oklahoma Sooners had two first team selections and seven second team selections.
