Injury
The Grizzlies said preliminary imaging showed Memphis Grizzlies star Jay Morant suffered a left knee sprain in the first quarter of the Atlanta Hawks’ 132-100 home loss on Friday night.
Morant was hurt while dribbling the ball towards the paint, although there was no contact that caused the injury. He started limping, passed the ball and then fell off the floor in the middle of the game.
After briefly appearing in front of the Grizzlies’ bench, Morant was helped into the locker room, leaving no pressure on his left leg. A few minutes later, the Grizzlies announced that they had been kicked out for the rest of the game.
Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said, “I think looking at the way he walked off the floor the shockwaves sent through the team.” “The Hawks played really, really well. We had a lot of looks that didn’t fall out. Definitely Mojo was kind of lost.”
Memphis forward Jaren Jackson Jr. said: “It’s hard when you see things like this. It’s nothing you want to see in the game.”
After the defeat, Morant posted a statement on social media that read: “It is now in the hands of God. We can only pray.”

Selected by the NBA at the age of just 19, Ja Morant is a rising Memphis Grizzlies basketball star. After just two years in the team, he has already broken a scoring record. But with such lofty achievements, fans are now wondering if he has someone special waiting for him.
Position
The Memphis Grizzlies took a big risk in 2019 by drafting Jaa Morant. Murray played at the State Guard a small school and could not shoot basketball particularly well. He had all the marks of a great NBA point guard with a few undeniable flaws.
But his athleticism was out of this world.
The Grizzlies had no choice but to take on Morant with the second overall pick, the reason being that his ceiling was so high. He may not be an elite shooter anymore, but he can improve. Less athletic players won’t suddenly have 42 inches of vertical from working hard. Morant had a generational athleticism that only a few NBA players had.
Two years into his time in the league and he still can’t shoot the ball particularly well. That said, it appears to be being used as an excuse to defame Morant and make him a worse player than he really is.
