Pick 6
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has been cautious with the ball in his first season with his new team. But in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans, the veteran quarterback threw one of the worst pick-6s in recent memory.
With the clock late in the fourth quarter, the Colts defense managed to get a stop to put the ball back into Wentz’s hand for a game-winning score. Deep in his half, the Colts tried to set up a screen pass. But Wentz held the ball for too long and the Titans’ defense managed to stun the quarterback.
A sack would lead to a safety and force the Colts to hit the ball back to the Titans. But the alternative was throwing a speculative pass into the air that would have either been an interception or was caught by an ineligible receiver, which would have resulted in a penalty.
Wentz went with the option and ended up giving the Titans an easy pick-6.
or kirk cousins
Kirk Daniels Cousins and Carson James Wentz are not rivals. However, he did cross paths while Cousins led the Washington football team’s offense and twice more since joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2018.
The Cousins have been the monstrous vs. Philadelphia Eagles. In competitions against Philadelphia, the Cousins Eagles have played the fifth-best quarterback in their 87-year history. His 104.9 passer rating versus Philadelphia is topped only by Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Matt Cassell and Milt Plum (minimum 80 pass attempts).
In his nine games against Eagles’ Chip Kelly and Doug Pedersen-trained units, Cousins has thrown for a total of 2,756 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions, claiming a 67 percent completion ratio.
Carson Wentz, on the other hand, has been Vikings vs. Ho-Hum. He and the Eagles took down Minnesota in 2016, triggering the outright collapse of the Vikings’ 2016 campaign. Minnesota toured Philadelphia during that season as the owner of the league’s best record, 5–0. The Eagles went down 21-10 to the Vikings on that October day, and in many ways, it would be a cover on Minnesota’s grand plans for the once exciting 2016 outlook.
In three matchups against the Vikings, Wentz has thrown five touchdowns into three interceptions with a 90.1 passer rating. Oddly, Wentz is the only quarterback to throw more than 300 passing yards against Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer on two separate occasions. Both attempts were losses for the Eagles, but the statistic is remarkable nonetheless.
Injury update
Carson Wentz’s two ankle injuries are big problems for the Colts. He doesn’t have a proven backup behind the seasoned quarterback and doesn’t even seem to know what to do if he is unable to play.
The Colts currently have Jacob Eason and Brett Hundley behind Wentz. While Eason, who was on the 53-man roster, was considered the top backup and acted as such during the first two weeks of the season, NFL Network’s Tom Pelicero noted that it was Hundley who took the majority of the first-team reps. Was. Wednesday afternoon.
According to Spottrack, here’s how the Colts’ pay ranges are divided.
Carson Wentz hits $20.4 million 2021 salary cap
The Colts are banking on a resurgence from their 28-year-old quarterback, who was benched at the end of last season in Philadelphia. Indy sent Wentz a 3-round pick for the Eagles in the 2021 NFL Draft, as well as a conditional (either 1- or 2-round) pick in 2022.

Contract Details: Signed through 2024, with cap hits of $27 million in 2022, $25 million in 2023, and $26 million in 2024. And he has some lucrative incentives the Colts will be happy to pay: $5 million being voted NFL MVP; $5 million to be named NFL Offensive Player of the Year; $6 million for 3 Pro Bowl berths or 2 Pro Bowls and playoff berths; $5 million for a Super Bowl win, if he takes 70% of the snap during that season.
DeForest Buckner, $17 million
The Colts’ great deal from 2020 is still in the works. He sent San Francisco a first-round draft pick for Buckner, and the 27-year-old delivered an All-Pro season (58 tackles, 9.5 sacks) from his internal defensive position.
