Week 8 picks
For the FIRST TIME in 11 years, Halloween is on a Sunday this year and I’m guessing you’re now thinking what I’m thinking: The NFL should definitely do the smart thing and let everyone dress up for this week’s game. The Jets could dress up as an actual NFL team, which would be something new for them.
Also, I feel like the NFL should really milk this Sunday Halloween thing by implementing a rule for this week only that would require any coach with a losing record in 2021 to dress up as their team’s mascot for Sunday’s game.
Games today
The primetime games often deliver some of the most anticipated matchups of the week, but that might not be the case this Sunday.
The slate of 1 p.m. NFL games features a matchup with major stakes on the line as the 4-2 Bengals take on the 5-1 Ravens in a battle to determine the leader in the AFC North.
The Chiefs will also be tasked with another chance to move back up — or back under — the .500 mark as they will take on the Titans, who are now 4-2 and are coming off a big win against the Bills.
Scores today
The Detroit Lions threw an unexpected scare into the Los Angeles Rams, but more importantly for NFL fans, they injected Sunday’s Week 7 slate with a much-needed dose of drama. Eventually, former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was able to help Los Angeles hold off former Rams quarterback Jared Goff and 0-7 Detroit, but not before the contest saw a successful onside kick, two successful fake punts and three lead changes in a game that was closer than its 28-19 final score.
Sunday
“Sunday Night Football” went into overtime last week in a matchup between an NFC West team and one of last year’s AFC playoff teams. NBC will hope to get a similarly strong matchup in NFL Week 7.
The home team in this contest is well-rested coming off a bye. They have dealt with plenty of injuries to start the season, especially at cornerback, and also saw their quarterback held out in Week 5 due to a calf injury. Jimmy Garoppolo seems ready to return in Week 7, so that will provide the team with a higher floor against their opponent.

There were some significant blowouts in Week 7 of the NFL slate, but as we approach the midway point of the season, some storylines are starting to solidify.
The most interesting development may be that the AFC is completely open and no clear leaders have broken away from the pack. That could make for a wild second half of the year, but the biggest surprise of 2021 has to be the Cincinnati Bengals, who hold the No. 1 seed in the conference. In the NFC, there are a group of five teams entrenched at the top.
