On January 26, 2020, a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter crashed in the city of Calabasas, California, around 30 mi northwest of Downtown Los Angeles, while en route from John Wayne Airport to Camarillo Airport.

Investigative updates published by the National Transportation Safety Board during the accident investigation state that the helicopter was not fitted with a flight data recorder (FDR) or cockpit voice recorder (CVR) nor was it required to be, there was no evidence of drug or alcohol use,[3] and that viewable sections of the engines showed no evidence of an uncontained or catastrophic internal failure.
