Trade
On February 27, 2017, Dahlen was traded by the Senators to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Alex Burroughs before the NHL trade deadline. It was speculated that the Canucks had drafted friend Elias Pettersson, partly based on the highly successful chemistry, with Dahlen in the top line for Timre IK, where he was a teenager. They finished fifth and ninth in league scoring in the U.S. Both scored in the first innings played together in Sweden.
At the conclusion of his season with Timaro IK, Dahlen was signed by the Canucks to a three-year entry-level contract on April 21, 2017. After suffering from mononucleosis during the 2017–18 preseason, Dahlen signed a contract with Timaro IK on 10 October 2017. Playing in Sweden in 2017–18, Dahlen was a major contributor to the offense as Timra earned promotion to the SHL. Dahlen was announced as the top forward and MVP at HockeyAllsvenscano.
Sharks

Dahlen, 23, was selected 42nd overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. In his draft year, he scored 15 goals and 29 points through 51 games played at Allsvenskan. Exactly a year later, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks for Alexandre Burroughs.
With the Canucks organization, Dahlen held some promise. He scored 23 goals and 44 points through 44 games played at Allsvenskan in the 2017-18 season and 14 goals and 29 points through 50 games played in the AHL with the Utica Comets in the following season in 2018-19. However, Vancouver traded him mid-season for Linus Carlson to the Sharks.
While in the Sharks organization, Dahlen made an all-out switch, scoring 61 goals and 148 points through 96 games played at Allsvenskan. Now, San Jose has convinced him to come to North America again for the upcoming season, and he’s ready to compete in the top-six for the team.

TopShelfProspectsBirthday at the end of 1997, Jonathan Dahlen spent most of this season playing for Timra IK in Swedish Allvenskan, showcasing his ability against the men. Now that Allsvenskan is the second best hockey league in Sweden, it should not be considered as Sweden’s AHL. Rather than being affiliated with a farm club or SHL club, as we see in the North American system, it is more like the promotion/relegation system seen in European football (soccer) clubs. Dahlen had a strong season for Timra, scoring 15 goals and 29 points in 15 games. He added six goals and seven points in five playoff games.

Forward Marcus Johansson is set to seize the opportunity as a hunter rather than a victim in his first season with the New Jersey Devils.
Johansson was traded from the Washington Capitals to the Devils on July 2 for two 2018 NHL Draft picks after spending the past seven seasons in Washington and qualifying for the Stanley Cup playoffs in six of them. The Capitals won the Presidents Trophy as the top team in the league in each of the previous two seasons; The Devils have failed to qualify for the playoffs for five consecutive seasons.
“Honestly, I just see the positives,” Johansson said on Friday. “I think [New Jersey] is headed in the right direction. I don’t mind being the underdog. I think we have a great team and if we can put all the pieces together, I think That can surprise us quite a few people.
“I look forward to being a part of something that gets better and better every day and every year.”
