Michael McCorkle Mac Jones (born September 5, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).

He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Sciences in December 2019 and is currently completing his Masters of Sports Hospitality with an expected graduation date of December 2020.

Jones will lead the Alabama offense for a fourth game this season when the Tide takes on Michigan in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1. On the season, Jones has thrown for 1,176 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 81 of his 116 passes (69.8 percent). Although he threw for a career-best 335 yards and four touchdowns at Auburn, Jones also threw two pick-sixes in a 48-45 loss.

It has just been announced that Cam Newton has been cut from the Patriots start list, and rookie Mac Jones is set to step into the quarterback position. Fans are celebrating this news online by sharing an old photo of Mac Jones smoking a cigar from 2020. 

Cam Newton started in every preseason game and he was 14-for-21 for 162 yards, managing one touchdown and one interception, while Jones was 36-of-52 for 389 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

One of the top quarterback prospects of the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones was projected to be taken in the first round.

Although many analysts predicted he would be selected third overall by the San Francisco 49ers, Jones was selected 15th overall by the New England Patriots after the 49ers drafted North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance.
