He earned five NCAA FCS national titles while playing collegiate football for North Dakota State. Wentz was chosen second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, making him the highest-drafted player in the FCS.
Howie Roseman
During Carson Wentz’s tenure as quarterback, the Eagles appeared in six postseason games, winning four of them. Five of those games were started by a backup quarterback (Nick Foles), with another (Josh McCown) having to play the majority of the one that Wentz did start.
In the aftermath of Wentz’s departure from Philadelphia, the Eagles have been as forthright as they’ve ever been.
Starting Week 1
The Indianapolis Colts have signed Carson Wentz in the hopes of recapturing the former No. 2 overall pick’s MVP-level magic.
Wentz had a lot of success with the Philadelphia Eagles early in his career, but he fell out of favour with the coaching staff and his play was hampered by injuries.
He’s reunited with Frank Reich in an attempt to return to the heights he experienced with the Philadelphia Flyers in his early seasons.
Is Playing
Despite having foot surgery on Aug. 2, Wentz isn’t expected to be limited in his Colts debut against the Seahawks on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
While the Colts are expected to proceed with caution with Wentz to whatever extent they can, head coach Frank Reich said Friday that the signal-caller won’t be “limited in any way” less than six weeks after undergoing a procedure that was expected to sideline the quarterback for 5-to-12 weeks.
