Head coach Mark Pope and his coaching staff continue to build momentum on the recruiting trail, adding one of the most intriguing big-man prospects in the country.
Millogo announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, giving Kentucky another important piece for its future roster. The four-star or five-star prospect, depending on the recruiting service, brings exceptional size, interior defense and the ability to score from beyond the three-point line.
The commitment is particularly significant for ky basketball as the Wildcats look to assemble a nationally competitive 2027 recruiting class.
Who Is Cherif Millogo?
Cherif Millogo is a highly regarded center in the 2027 high school basketball recruiting class. He attends St. Francis High School in La Cañada Flintridge, California, and has attracted attention from several major college basketball programs.
Millogo’s height is one of his biggest advantages. His listed measurements vary across recruiting databases, with reports placing him between 7-foot-4 and 7-foot-5. He is also listed at approximately 250 pounds.
His combination of size, mobility and shooting ability makes him an exciting prospect for Kentucky.

These differences highlight how strongly he is regarded across the major recruiting platforms.
Mark Pope Lands Major Recruiting Victory
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope and his staff have worked to strengthen the program’s recruiting position, and landing Millogo represents an important step forward.
The Wildcats hosted the center for an official visit during the weekend of October 9. His trip to Lexington included a visit to Keeneland, giving the coaching staff an opportunity to showcase the university and its basketball tradition.
Kentucky extended its scholarship offer in May 2026, and the relationship continued to develop over the following months.
Assistant coach Alfred Aboya may also have played an important role in the recruitment. Aboya previously worked with NBA Academy Africa, and his background could have helped Kentucky establish a connection with Millogo.
The Wildcats ultimately secured his commitment ahead of several other potential college destinations.
What Makes Cherif Millogo Special?
Millogo offers Kentucky an unusual combination of physical presence and offensive versatility.
He is considered a stretch-five prospect, meaning he can operate around the basket while also providing shooting opportunities from the perimeter.
His biggest strengths include:
- Elite size: At approximately 7-foot-4 or 7-foot-5, Millogo has the physical tools to become a dominant interior presence.
- Three-point shooting: His ability to stretch the floor could create additional offensive opportunities for Kentucky.
- Rim protection: His length gives him the potential to become an effective shot blocker.
- Interior defense: His size and physical profile could make scoring near the basket difficult for opposing players.
- Offensive versatility: He has the potential to contribute both inside and outside the paint.
If Millogo continues developing throughout his senior season, he could improve his recruiting standing and potentially earn a fifth star from additional recruiting evaluations.
Cherif Millogo Recruiting Rankings
Here is how the major recruiting services currently evaluate Kentucky’s newest commitment:
| Recruiting Service | National Ranking | Center Ranking |
|---|---|---|
| Rivals/On3 | No. 11 | No. 2 |
| 247Sports | No. 45 | No. 7 |
| ESPN | No. 8 | No. 2 |
The rankings demonstrate that Millogo is considered one of the most talented big-man prospects in the 2027 class.
Kentucky Basketball Now Has Two 2027 Commitments
Millogo becomes the second commitment for Kentucky in the 2027 recruiting class, joining highly rated small forward Ryan Hampton.
Adding another talented frontcourt prospect gives Mark Pope an important foundation as he continues building the future of the Wildcats.
Kentucky is also expected to remain involved with several other highly ranked recruits. Five-star power forward CJ Rosser is among the prospects the coaching staff could continue pursuing.
Landing additional players at key positions would help Kentucky create a balanced recruiting class with talent across the floor.
Could Cherif Millogo Make Kentucky Basketball History?
Millogo’s potential arrival in Lexington could also bring a historic storyline.
If he eventually plays in an official game for Kentucky, he could become the tallest player in program history. His reported height of 7-foot-4 or 7-foot-5 would put him ahead of former Wildcats center Shagari Alleyne, who measured 7-foot-3.
That possibility makes his commitment even more exciting for Kentucky supporters.
However, his immediate focus will be continuing his development at St. Francis High School before making the transition to college basketball.
What Millogo’s Commitment Means for Kentucky
The commitment of Cherif Millogo gives Kentucky basketball an important recruiting boost and provides Mark Pope with a promising long-term option at center.
His combination of size, shot-blocking potential and perimeter shooting could make him a valuable addition to the Wildcats’ future frontcourt.
Kentucky still has work to do to complete its 2027 recruiting class, but securing two commitments already gives the program a solid starting point.
For Wildcats fans, Millogo’s decision is an encouraging sign that Mark Pope and his staff are making progress in their pursuit of elite national recruits.
As the 2027 recruiting cycle continues, attention will turn toward whether Kentucky can add more highly rated prospects and build one of the strongest classes in college basketball.
