Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson delivered a breakout performance in Week 2, taking advantage of increased opportunities with star wide receiver Puka Nacua inactive.
Ferguson caught 6 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown on 9 targets in the Rams’ win over the New York Giants. The performance marked a significant jump from his limited involvement in Week 1 and put the second-year tight end firmly on the fantasy football radar.
Terrance Ferguson Shines Without Puka Nacua
Nacua was inactive because of a hip issue, creating additional opportunities in the Rams’ passing game. While Davante Adams remained the team’s primary receiving option, Ferguson emerged as another important target for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The tight end finished second on the Rams in targets, receptions and receiving yards during the game. His six catches and touchdown also produced a career-high 17.4 PPR fantasy points, according to Draft Sharks.
The performance was especially notable because Ferguson had been behind Colby Parkinson in routes during Week 1.
Ferguson’s Role Increased Against the Giants
Ferguson’s opportunity level changed dramatically in Week 2.
He led Rams tight ends with 23 receiving snaps and finished second on the team behind Adams. His nine targets represented a 29% target share, a substantial increase from the 6.7% target share he recorded in Week 1 and the 5.1% share he had during the previous season.
That jump in involvement could be one of the most important takeaways from Ferguson’s performance.
Rather than simply benefiting from a few isolated plays, Ferguson was consistently involved in the Rams’ passing attack against New York.
Can Terrance Ferguson Become a TE1?
Ferguson’s Week 2 performance has opened the door to a larger role, but one game does not necessarily make him a weekly TE1.
Puka Nacua is expected to return as soon as Week 3, which could reduce the number of available targets for Ferguson. Davante Adams is also expected to remain a major part of the Rams’ passing offense.
However, Ferguson’s increased role alongside those receivers could still be significant.
If his route participation and target volume continue to rise, he could develop into a useful fantasy tight end even when the Rams’ preferred receiving group is healthy.
Terrance Ferguson vs. Colby Parkinson
Another key development was Ferguson moving ahead of Colby Parkinson in opportunity.
Parkinson had more routes than Ferguson in Week 1, but Ferguson led the Rams tight ends in receiving snaps during Week 2. That shift suggests the coaching staff could be looking for ways to expand Ferguson’s involvement.
His nine targets were particularly encouraging for fantasy managers because target volume is often more sustainable than relying solely on touchdowns.
Terrance Ferguson Fantasy Football Outlook
Ferguson should remain a player to monitor heading into Week 3.
His Week 2 numbers — 6 receptions, 54 receiving yards, 1 touchdown and 9 targets — provide evidence that he can contribute when given a larger role in the Rams offense.
The biggest question is what happens when Nacua returns.
If Ferguson continues to receive significant routes and targets despite Nacua and Adams being available, his fantasy value could rise considerably. For now, his Week 2 breakout makes him an intriguing TE2 option with potential for a larger role.

The Rams’ Week 2 victory provided Ferguson with his first major opportunity of the 2026 season, and he responded with the most productive receiving game of his young NFL career.
With his role increasing and the Rams expected to remain one of the league’s higher-scoring offenses, Terrance Ferguson is now a name worth watching closely in fantasy football.
