Murder
Officers in Miami made the arrest Thursday in the 2006 murder of hurricane defensive lineman Brian Pata of the University of Miami.
Pata was shot in the back of the head outside his apartment on November 7, 2006, after returning from practice.
According to the Miami Herald, Rashun Jones, 35, was arrested in Marion County, north central Florida, with the help of US marshals.
Killer

Fifteen years after the murder of star Miami defensive lineman Brian Pata, one of his former teammates has been arrested. Former Hurricane defensive back Rashoun Jones was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Thursday in Florida’s Marion County, Florida, after a long-time suspicion, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced.
Pata played defensively for Miami from 2003 to 2006 and was in his fourth season with the program when he was asked about his apartment.

Two years later, here’s the irony: Brian Pata might have been lucky. Like many talented athletes who died young, they never faced the inevitable lack of their material gifts, the betrayal of mind and body, failure to achieve dreams.
And unlike those who were left behind — Brian’s mother, his siblings, his girlfriend, former teammates — the University of Miami defensive lineman never felt anger, frustration, a sense of loss, a lack of closure.
