Brandon Graham has officially retired from the NFL, bringing an end to a remarkable 16-season career spent entirely with the Philadelphia Eagles. The two-time Super Bowl champion confirmed the decision on Sept. 8, 2026, at a Jefferson Health team event.
Brandon Graham Announces Retirement
Graham, 38, is stepping away from football after becoming one of the most accomplished defensive players in Eagles history. His career included 228 games for the franchise when regular-season and playoff appearances are combined, the most in team history.
The veteran defensive end initially retired following the 2024 season after helping Philadelphia win Super Bowl LIX. However, Graham returned to the Eagles during the 2025 season and played nine games, recording three sacks.
His latest retirement now appears to mark the definitive end of his playing career.
Brandon Graham’s Eagles Legacy
Selected by Philadelphia with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Michigan, Graham spent his entire professional career with the Eagles. Over 215 regular-season games, he recorded 495 tackles, 79.5 sacks, 156 quarterback hits, 23 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
Those numbers place Graham among the most productive defenders in Eagles history. He also finished his career with 5.5 postseason sacks, adding another layer to his reputation as a player who consistently delivered on the biggest stage.
The Super Bowl Play That Defined Brandon Graham
One moment stands above the rest of Graham’s career: his strip-sack of Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LII.
Philadelphia defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in that game to win the first Super Bowl in franchise history. Graham’s pressure on Brady helped the Eagles protect their lead and secure the Lombardi Trophy.
That play transformed Graham’s already impressive career into an unforgettable part of Philadelphia sports history.
Two-Time Super Bowl Champion
Graham eventually added a second championship ring when the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX. He initially retired after that season before making his return to the team later in 2025.
His ability to contribute even late in his career further strengthened his standing as a respected veteran inside the Eagles organization.
Graham Plans to Remain Around the Eagles
Although Brandon Graham is finished playing, he does not appear ready to disappear from Philadelphia football.
Graham said he plans to remain around the team, offer his experience and help younger players. He also emphasized that retirement will allow him to focus more on his children and family.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie previously described Graham as someone who would remain part of the team’s family, reflecting the lasting relationship he built with the franchise.
A Lasting Philadelphia Eagles Icon
Brandon Graham‘s career is defined by longevity, production, leadership and memorable postseason moments. He played 16 seasons, appeared in more games than any other player in Eagles history and won two Super Bowl titles with the franchise.
For Eagles fans, Graham will be remembered not only for his 79.5 regular-season sacks but also for the energy and leadership he brought to Philadelphia throughout his career.
His retirement closes one of the longest and most successful chapters in Eagles history, but his connection with the organization is likely to continue for years to come.
