Enes Freedom is back in the spotlight after revealing details of a private text exchange with Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham following his controversial ejection from a WNBA game in Chicago.
The former NBA player discussed the alleged conversation during an appearance on Fox News, saying Cunningham contacted him after the August 23 matchup between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. According to Freedom, she asked him a simple question: “What happened?”

Freedom then stood up, extended his arms and moved toward the court before arena security intervened. He was escorted out of the building.
Freedom has maintained that his actions were intended to defend his friends rather than threaten anyone. Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter has disputed that characterization, saying Freedom’s conduct was the reason for his removal.

Freedom filed a federal lawsuit against the Chicago Sky, the City of Chicago and other parties connected to Wintrust Arena. His lawsuit alleges that his First Amendment rights were violated.
