MaxPreps Honors Trent Seaborn as Second Team Preseason All-American

Thompson High School quarterback Trent Seaborn is entering his senior season with another major national honor, as MaxPreps has named him a Second Team Preseason All-American.

The recognition, announced Aug. 17, marks the third consecutive year Seaborn has earned preseason recognition from MaxPreps. It adds to an already impressive collection of honors for the Alabama quarterback ahead of the 2026 high school football season.

Trent Seaborn Earns Third Straight MaxPreps Preseason Honor

Seaborn has established himself as one of the most highly regarded quarterbacks in Alabama high school football. His latest MaxPreps selection continues a run of national recognition that began before his sophomore season.

The Thompson quarterback is coming off a standout junior campaign in which he helped the Warriors capture another state championship. His production and consistency played a major role in Thompson’s successful title defense.

Seaborn finished the 2025 season with a career-best 3,689 passing yards, ranking second in Alabama behind Southside-Selma quarterback Kole Moody. He also recorded 35 passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns, while throwing only seven interceptions.

His ability to consistently produce through the air was particularly impressive. Seaborn threw for at least 250 yards in 11 of his 14 starts during the championship season.

Strong Finish to Thompson’s Championship Run

Seaborn saved one of his best performances for the biggest game of the season.

In Thompson’s state championship victory over Opelika, the quarterback passed for 259 yards and three touchdowns. The performance helped the Warriors complete another successful postseason run.

Before reaching the championship, Thompson defeated several highly regarded opponents, including Carver-Montgomery, Mary G. Montgomery and Central-Phenix City.

The championship was the third state title of Seaborn’s career, adding another major accomplishment to his high school résumé.

Alabama Commitment Adds to Seaborn’s Profile

Seaborn’s success has also translated into significant recruiting attention.

The quarterback committed to the University of Alabama during the 2025 season and remains regarded as a consensus four-star prospect in the Class of 2027.

His recruiting profile, on-field production and growing list of awards have made Seaborn one of the most closely watched high school quarterbacks in Alabama.

His junior season also earned him a place on the MaxPreps Junior All-American First Team, while the Alabama Sportswriters Association recognized him as the Class 7A Back of the Year.

He was additionally selected to the Super All-State and Class 7A All-State First Teams. On the local level, Seaborn was named Shelby County Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-County First Team before being selected as Shelby County Male Athlete of the Year.

Seaborn Among Alabama’s Top Preseason Selections

Only three players from Alabama were selected to the MaxPreps First or Second Team Preseason All-American squads.

Vigor defensive end Jabarrius Garror, a Texas commit, received First Team recognition, while Vigor linebacker Issac McNeil, an Auburn commit, joined Seaborn on the Second Team.

Vigor was also one of just four schools nationally to produce multiple selections. St. Thomas Aquinas and IMG Academy from Florida, along with Arizona’s Basha High School, were the other programs with at least two players represented.

The recognition further highlights the level of talent surrounding Alabama high school football entering the new season.

Thompson Begins Its 2026 Title Defense

Seaborn and Thompson are set to begin their 2026 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 20, when the Warriors face Central in the AHSAA Kickoff Classic.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Garrett-Harrison Stadium in Phenix City and will be available for viewers statewide through PBS and WOTM, including their streaming platforms.

For Thompson, the season opener provides an immediate opportunity to begin another championship pursuit. For Seaborn, it represents the start of his final high school season and another chance to strengthen his reputation as one of the nation’s premier quarterbacks.

With three consecutive MaxPreps preseason honors, a state championship pedigree and a commitment to Alabama already secured, Seaborn enters his senior campaign carrying considerable expectations.

The biggest question now is whether the Thompson star can turn another year of national recognition into another championship season.
