Largo, Fla. – Former Largo High School football star Bobby Roundtree, who fell from the waist down in a swimming accident two years ago, died on Friday, his former university said.
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign said Roundtree, a Florida native, died in the Tampa area where he was living. The cause of death could not be immediately ascertained.

Roundtree had become an inspirational figure in his fight for rehab and recovery after a diving accident in May 2019 that left him paralyzed.
Roundtree made 50 tackles and four sacks in 12 games as a freshman in 2017. He was one of the best defensive players in the Big Ten, with 67 tackles and 13.5 sacks.
