Contract: What’s the deal with McLaurin?
-
In August 2025, McLaurin signed a new 3-year extension with Washington Commanders worth US $96 million.
-
The new deal came after a brief holdout early in training camp, amid speculation and negotiations over his long-term value.
-
This extension elevated him to the status of one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league, reflecting his consistency and importance to the team.
So McLaurin’s contract is locked in through the next several seasons — solidifying his future with the Commanders.
Injury Status: What’s the deal?
-
McLaurin suffered a quadriceps/hip-flexor injury earlier in the 2025 season, which caused him to miss several games.
-
He was activated off the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list after rehab and gradual ramp-up, and recent practice sessions have reportedly gone well.
-
McLaurin himself said he feels like his “acceleration is there,” and that this return feels stronger than his previous comeback attempt.
In short: though he was sidelined due to injury, McLaurin has been cleared and appears ready to contribute on the field again.
Wife & Personal Life
-
McLaurin married longtime partner Caitlin Winfrey on February 15, 2025 — in a destination wedding at Solaz Resort, Los Cabos, Mexico.

The two have been together since high school (they met while both were students at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis) and got engaged in December 2023.
-
McLaurin shared a celebratory photo of signing his 2025 contract extension — with his wife right beside him — showcasing their partnership on and off the field.
Career Snapshot: Why McLaurin Matters
-
McLaurin was drafted in 2019 (3rd round, pick 76) by Washington.
-
Over the years, he has become one of the team’s go-to receivers: as of 2025, he has 473 receptions, 6,582 receiving yards, and 40 receiving touchdowns in his career.
-
In 2024, he posted a standout season — 82 receptions, 1,096 yards, and a career-high 13 touchdowns — earning second-team All-Pro honors and another Pro Bowl nod.
That consistency is a big reason the Commanders locked him into that big 2025 contract.
