The 2022 Major League Baseball Postseason is the current postseason tournament of Major League Baseball (MLB) for the 2022 season. This will be the first postseason edition since 2012 to have a new format, as it has been expanded to include six teams per league. The top two seeds from the American and National leagues will receive first round byes in the Division Series (DS) and the other two division winners will receive third seeds in their respective leagues. The three wild card teams will be seeded fourth, fifth and sixth. The third seed would receive the sixth seed in the best of three wild card series, and the fourth seed would do the same with the fifth seed. The postseason began on 7 October, two days after the end of the regular season.

The 2022 MLB postseason field is set and it all starts on Friday!
12 teams secured playoff berths before the final day of the regular season, with the Los Angeles Dodgers officially securing the first playoff berths of the season, and the Houston Astros, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Cleveland Guardians and St. Louis next following cardinal.
The Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres then took the remaining spots. One of the final races scheduled was the NL East, with the Braves defeating the Marlins on Tuesday to claim the division title and finish second.
All three games in the Wild Card Series will take place in the same ballpark, with no travel required. There is also no re-seeding, meaning the winner of the Razz-Guardians Series will face the Yankees in the American League Division Series, while the Mariners-Blue Jays winner will head to Houston.
Scores
The Los Angeles Dodgers had the best record in baseball this season, holding a home-field advantage throughout the postseason. With excellent depth, a distinctive rotation and the highest-scoring lineup in baseball, there’s no question the Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series in 2022. They will take on the winner of the New York Mets and the San Diego Padres Wild. Card Series starting Friday, October 7.
The New York Mets have no one to blame but themselves. A sweep in Atlanta will be missed, but there have been problems for weeks. New York went 17-13 (Atlanta 21-9), but on September 18 went 8-6 (Atlanta 11-5). While it’s still important to remember that the Mets are headed to the MLB playoffs, fans are right that this will be a short stay. The Mets vs Padres series could go away and face the Dodgers if New York goes ahead.
