A 104-year-old woman has died, just over a week after breaking the world record for possibly the oldest skydiver.
Dorothy Hoffner jumped 13,500 feet from an aircraft with Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois on October 1. He likely died in his sleep at Brookdale Senior Living on Monday, the center said.
Cause of death
The cause of death has not yet been determined. The 104-year-old Chicago woman who last week set the world record for the oldest skydiver died in her sleep at her home on Monday. Joe Conant, Hoffner’s close friend, said staff at Brookdale Lake View Senior Living Community found him dead Monday morning. Conant said Hoffner died in her sleep Sunday night.
Conant, who is a nurse, said she met Hoffner — whom she calls Grandma at her request — several years ago when she was working as a caregiver for another resident at a senior living center. She said she had amazing energy and was mentally sharp.
