Predictions

The first of the three England-Pakistan Tests begins at Lord’s on 30 July while the three-match T20 International series begins at Headingley on 29 August.

Covid 19 Situation

Former captain Rashid Latif says it is difficult to predict the outcome of Pakistan’s upcoming England tour as the team is playing under unprecedented circumstances due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Pakistan team, which left for England on 28 June 28, was given a tough fight on Monday, with three players testing positive for coronovirus. The first of the three Test matches begins at Lord’s on 30 July while the three-match T20 International series begins at Headingley on 29 August.

Who will win?

Latif said, “It is difficult to predict whether Pakistan can win the series because the conditions and atmosphere this time are very different from previous tours.”

He said, “Forgetting the last time in England there was no struggle without Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq.”

Pakistan won the first Test at Lord’s but lost the second at Headingley in 2018.

The 51-year-old Latif, who played 37 Tests between 1992 and 2003, does not see any management problems during the upcoming tour despite having 29 players and 14 officials.

The former wicketkeeper-batsman also felt that the partnership of Misbah and batting coach Younis Khan would be a big help for the team in England as both had good understanding and at times they have come together to save Pakistan in difficult circumstances.

“I think they will also share their batting partnership in coaching. I am disappointed that the PCB has not appointed Younis as the head coach of the junior team, but I still believe that Younis will have Pakistan cricket There is a lot to give.

T20 Tips & Predictions

Latif said without any crowd pressure – as the matches would be played without an audience – it would be interesting to see how the two teams compete in the Tests and T20 series.

“The crowd pressure affects the players but playing in front of empty stadiums for the entire five days will be a completely different experience.”

Latif also does not show senior player Sarfaraz Ahmed in the Test series, but said that he can play T20 matches.

“Sitting on the bench after leading the country in all three formats would be an odd position for him. But, this is something he is used to. He is a fighter and I am sure he will return.”
